Audit Manager

Summary:
The Audit Manager is responsible for managing and delivering high-quality audit engagements while working closely with the UK finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with UK regulatory and accounting requirements. The role combines technical audit expertise with a collaborative, hands-on approach, supporting finance stakeholders throughout the audit lifecycle and beyond.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Audit Delivery
Plan, manage and review statutory audits in accordance with UK ISAs, UK GAAP, FRS 102, and IFRS where applicable
Lead audits from planning through to completion, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines and budgets
Review audit working papers and financial statements prior to final approval
Identify audit risks, control weaknesses and technical issues, and agree practical solutions with the finance team
Collaboration with UK Finance Team
Work closely with the UK finance team to coordinate audit planning, information requests and deliverables
Act as a key liaison between auditors and finance, ensuring clear communication and smooth audit execution
Provide guidance and support to finance colleagues on audit requirements, accounting standards and best practice
Partner with finance to resolve audit queries efficiently and minimise disruption to business operations
Support finance teams during year-end, interim audits and regulatory reporting processes
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including Finance, Tax and senior management
Lead audit meetings, including planning, status updates and clearance meetings
Communicate findings, recommendations and control improvements clearly to finance and leadership teams
Team Leadership & Development
Manage and mentor audit team members, providing technical guidance and performance feedback
Review work prepared by audit seniors and trainees, ensuring high quality and compliance
Contribute to training initiatives for both audit staff and finance team members where appropriate
Compliance & Risk
Ensure compliance with FRC, ICAEW/ACCA, and internal quality standards
Support internal and external audit quality reviews and regulatory inspections
Identify and escalate independence, ethical or financial reporting risks
Continuous Improvement
Work with the finance team to strengthen internal controls and improve audit readiness
Contribute to improvements in audit processes, documentation and reporting
Stay up to date with changes in UK accounting, auditing and regulatory requirements
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Essential
ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) preferred.
Strong experience in UK statutory audit and financial reporting
Solid understanding of UK accounting and auditing standards
Proven ability to work collaboratively with finance teams
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
In-house audit or secondment experience within a UK finance function
Experience supporting year-end close and statutory reporting processes
Exposure to audit transformation, automation or data analytics

Working for us means:
The salary is between £56,000 & £60,000 per year, depending on your professional experience.
Holidays - 25 days plus bank holidays, buy and sell scheme available
Probationary Period – 6 months.
Pension – Can join immediately or auto enrolled after 3 months - Employee 5% and Employer 5% via salary sacrifice.
Eligible to join Private Healthcare.
Enrolled in Group Income Protection and Death in Service (4 x basic salary) upon commencement of employment.
Notice – 1 week during probation, increasing to 1 month thereafter
