Maintenance Technician

Summary:
As part of a dedicated team, the O&M technician will work on a day shift basis and be responsible for safely and successfully operating and monitoring the electrical, mechanical, instrument and process equipment at a brand-new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) located within the site of an internationally recognised customer
The O&M technician will be expected to monitor and control the plant and implement any necessary operational changes. The Operator would also prepare plant for Planned Maintenance tasks as required. The Water Treatment Plant Operator will also be expected to maintain analytical data into a computer-based system to record plant performance.
In addition, the O&M technician is expected to be able to carry out first line preventative maintenance activities on the equipment with the support of a Computerised Maintenance Management System. This can include tasks such as cleaning of process instruments on a regular basis, changing over duty pumps and equipment as necessary and ensuring the process assets are in as good condition as possible.
All necessary training will be provided. Most work will be dayshift Monday – Friday but it is expected that the operator will work outside these hours if required. As part of this role, the applicant will also provide on call plant cover responding to any alarms and attending site, if necessary, out of hours
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work within the client and Company Quality, Health & Safety & Environment (QHSE) systems
• Visible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and internally.
• Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and internally.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, Company employees and sub-contractor staff.
• Innovate in the workplace to deliver Continuous improvement and exploit opportunities.
• Identity faults, identify solutions & carry out basic repairs.
• Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site.
• Carry out laboratory water analysis and promptly report any deviations to Site Management and Technical Team
• Utilising plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems and evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition.
• Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices
• To work unsupervised with a proactive attitude
• Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other Company staff
• Undergo training as required and identify training needs
• Lead by example
• Take on additional responsibilities as the company may reasonably require.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
• Ability and knowledge to complete basic repairs and maintenance on process equipment
• A working knowledge of running electro-mechanical plant
• Computer literate
• Ability to work on own or as part of a team
• Ability to work under pressure
• Proactive attitude
• Effective task management

Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable):
• Experience of working directly with sub-contractors
• To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience, an ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant
• Operational and maintenance knowledge of wastewater treatment plant
• Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system
• Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment plants
• Training in Environmental Health and Safety
• Time served Technician/Fitter/Electrician/Mechanic
Working for us means:
- The salary is £37,000 per year, depending on your professional experience.
- Holidays – 25 plus Bank Holidays
- Probationary Period – 6 months.
