Internship: Electro-membrane processes for resource recovery from wastewater
Explore innovative electro-membrane tech to recover salts from industrial wastewater and boost sustainability through real-world circular water treatment research!

Industrial processes often generate wastewater streams rich in dissolved salts, many of which were initially used within production. These salts can pose a challenge for wastewater treatment, but they also offer an opportunity: recovery and reuse of specific ions can reduce environmental impact and improve the sustainability of industrial operations.
Your goal
In this internship, you will explore innovative treatment and reuse strategies for saline industrial wastewaters using electro-membrane technologies such as Electrodialysis (ED), Electrodialysis Reversal (EDR), and Electrodialysis with Bipolar Membranes (BPMED). The focus will be on separating and recovering valuable or reusable components from real or synthetic wastewaters.
What will you be doing? We have listed it for you:
- Conduct laboratory experiments to find optimal operational parameters for electrodialysis processes in wastewater treatment.
- Evaluate wastewater streams of interest to which ED processes can be applied.
Work on real applied research in circular wastewater treatment which can help bring innovative solutions to the market in the future. Prior experience with electrodialysis is a plus but not required. Chemical know-how, together with the will to learn, are more important.
